One day, early 2000s, I was on an street corner with my horn in a case. An older lady standing next to me asked if I was a Jazz Player, to which I responded, “yes, I used to be, but now I’m in a band.” She handed me her card and said she’d like us to come by and her theatre and audition for a show she was putting together. She said, “Because I can see by your case you’ve been doing this for a while.” And the rest is history, as they say.

My Dad was a Baptist Preacher in the deep south… I think I was Singin’ and swingin’ almost before I could walk … it just sort of fell out of me - I couldn’t help it.
